Supporting Career Sustainability in Healing Professions
Speaker on the 3Es:
Enhancing Competence
Expanding Self-Care
Engaging in Community-Care
Book Dr. B To Speak and Teach
In her trainings and workshops on the Three Es – Enhancing Competence, Expanding Self-Care, and Engaging in Community Care – Dr. B pulls from her Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) orientation to support compassionate validation of the hardships clinicians face and promote effective coping to ensure sustainability.
She increases provider confidence through the development of new skills for understanding and managing high risk behaviors and navigating interpersonal pitfalls. Furthermore she emphasizes the importance of self-reflection, and community-care, as we are not meant to do this alone. Just like with her clients, Dr. B believes we all deserve the care and attention we need to not just survive, but to live and find meaning in our professional and personal lives.

Training Topics
For mental health providers, Dr. B teaches DBT skills to enhance clinical acumen and model how to teach these skills to clients. She currently emphasizes the following topics from DBT: dialectics, validation, boundary setting, mindfulness, states of mind, TIP, DEAR MAN, myths about emotions and roles of emotions, radical acceptance and more. Additionally, she provides in-depth training on understanding suicidal ideations and related behaviors and the techniques for conducting thorough risk assessments.
For all healthcare disciplines she presents compassion fatigue, burn-out, moral injury and coping through self and community care.
For the veterinary community, she teaches how to incorporate mental health awareness and self and community care early in one’s career.
